Summary Winner February 2015 – USS Stargazer (SFOL)

Chapter I. Loomings

The crew of the USS Stargazer returned to space dock only to receive word from Starfleet Command that a massive front was being developed and war had once again settled upon the Alpha Quadrant.

The Romulan Empire broke the ceasefire agreement with the Federation and moved ships into Federation space along the Federation side of the neutral zone. Several Star Bases and depots that had been liberated in the first wave of attacks a year previously were once again seized by the Romulans.

The crew were called back to the front. The Federation once again sent a fleet to neutralize the threat. Recently promoted Captain Montgomery Sayre wanted to stay away from the fight and every night since the war had ended he remembered the cries from the battles that had been fought. He remembered his near death experience, and he remembered what it was like seeing many of the brightest and youngest of Federation personal fall at the hands of an enemy so cruel and vengeful that death was of little consequence.

So the Stargazer went back to the front and her crew feared the outcome. When they arrived, they took up shop behind a moon and along with a few other vessels, including the USS Caduceus, the Stargazer became a supply and support vessel. And the battle began.

Little did the Federation know that between the fighting and ceasefire the Romulan Empire had created a much stronger and improved torpedo, capable of crippling a ship in two hits, and destroying a vessel in three. The battle proved to be crippling for the Federation forces. Ship after ship fell victim to the new weapon. Shortly before its destruction, the Stargazer was able to save the crew of the USS Enterprise. For the Caduceus, things weren’t as lucky. The Hermes was destroyed and the Caduceus was left with systems critical and a Captain shot by Romulans during boarding.

Scott, prepare final messages in vain hope of their eventual receipt.Fleets collide before the timeless backdrop of space. Like chessmen, they move, gambit, risk, and feint all integral parts of the strategies employed. As the principal piece, Eternity herself, is moved onto the board, the “go” order is given for the away team.

Summary winner for September 2014 – Star Fleet: Eternity

After attempting to halt the progress of the Kazon, Anam is overtaken by them, before the door to the ready room is cut. Within, Amelia Moore suffers contractions of childbirth, hoping that a security field shall stop the invaders. On the surface, Logan discusses the capabilities of generation 7 nanoprobes, exposing concepts that give the visibly impaired Talla Vrenak and the unaffected Marisol Hocevar cause for more questions. In the scout vessel Ja’Narr, Colin Byrne, having devolved and freed himself of the borg skeletal structure, ponders his surroundings, and his last living companion.

Ens. Farooqi makes a final attempt to protect LtCdr. Moore from the invading Kazon, until Gwren, the Voth, shows his true colors and orders her taken to his lab at once. Several teams of Kazon are dispersed to hunt down and capture Hope’s human crew. Their orders regarding the Hirogen are simply “Kill on sight.” On the surface, Cdr. Vreenak is overcome with hallucinations. Cdr. Logan attempts to persuade him that he is, in fact, dying, a prognosis challenged by LtCdr. Hocevar as she attempts to set up a blood test in the field. Somewhere in the vicinity is Lt. Scott, physically devolved, yet possessed of a keen, unfettered intellect to match his predatory stance. He prepares a weapon, and closes in stealthily.

Aboard Hope, Janelle James uses powers of another era to target the Kazon. Ens. Nazir gets a distress call out, before she’s eventually overtaken by the invaders and sent to the ready room to support LtCdr. Moore’s childbirth. Ens. Farooqi now stares at the lethal end of a weapon held by the Voth, Gwren, as he injects a cruel cocktail into Lt. Ambrose. Capt. Rick Barlow has a tense meeting with Jetan Remsen, with a curious result. On the surface, battle met as the devolved Owen Scott attacks the away team. Logan overpowers and “assimilates” him, a process both spiritual and evolutionary for the revived Lt. A hasty transfusion of LtCdr Hocevar’s blood to the dying Talla Vreenak may well prove lethal for Marisol. Revived, Vreenak concurs with Logan’s plan to beam aboard Hope with Lt. Scott, a plan undertaken with force. Aboard the Scout Vessel Janarr, Colin Byrne awakens to find himself restored, yet haunted by a dream as he enlists the aid of an old friend.

A devolved Brett Reese hunts for food, before forcing herself into the crew mess. In a final, heroic effort, Lt. Harold Ambrose attacks Gwren, to find himself dying from a severe knife wound to the back. Jal Korta and his men continue a path of murder through the ship, now indiscriminately targetting Hope’s human population. Janelle James is their next target. Transporter trickery collects Logan, Scott, Farooqi, Moore, Nazir, Vreenak, and Hocevar in the SEC office, with an added bonus of the Voth leader, Gwren. Logan conducts a harsh interrogation as Amelia Moore cries out in pain of her labor. As Marisol Hocevar lays dying of blood loss and fever, an unlikely army rallies to her support with an unorthodox tactic.

June 2014 Community Awards

(Belated) Congratulations to the following winners of the June 2014 Community Awards!

Sim of the Month (for July 2014): Stargate Command
Community Award: Stargate: SG-10
Fleet Activity Award: Delta Fleet
Summary Award (for May 2014): Stargate: SG-10

Excerpt from the Summary:

The team from SG-10, along with a few other SGC teams, were sent to the Alpha site for some training on what would happen if the Alpha Site came under attack. When they arrived, they began setting up, and commenced the simulated attack. However, while the attack was occurring, a real Lucian Alliance attack commenced in the middle of it. This lead to massive casualties, including to Allyson Dutcher. However, Adrian was able to abscond with an Al’Kesh, and put Allyson into the sarcophagus located on the vessel. He also managed to pick up Maddie Chapman, who had been taken prisoner by the Lucian Alliance. However, all of this was for naught, as they were captured by the orbiting H’tak. The rest of the SG teams and the Alpha Site scientists evacuated back to Earth to regroup.

Once back on Earth, the SGC learned of the location of the Lucian Alliance planet, and sent a small scout team through, consisting of Hartman, Ochi, Williams, and a few members from SG-3. They managed to steal a small Tel’tak, and ascended from the planet, heading for the Ha’tak in orbit. Meanwhile, Adrian and Maddie were being questioned, and Adrian managed to break free. Dutcher was left in the sarcophagus, and unbeknownst to the Lucian Alliance, had been fully healed, and went out, searching for the armory, to break out her team mates.

At about the same time Adrian managed to break free, he locked down the Ha’tak, and the room he was in, and began messing with the systems of the large vessel. Maddie was still captured by the Lucian Alliance General, and he sent his people to try to recover Adrian. This was fruitless, and eventually, Maddie managed to free herself, and found Dutcher with a large amount of weapons, who was blasting her way to find the other two.

Hartman and crew managed to land on the vessel, and began a search for the 3 people as well. They systematically went through the vessel, and Ochi rigged the ship to blow. Eventually, Snarf came face to face with the General, and proceeded to shoot him, killing him, thus creating a major setback to the Lucian Alliance. The team made it off the vessel, and it exploded in orbit above the planet.

May 2014 Community Awards

(Belated) Congratulations to the following winners of the May 2014 Community Awards!

Sim of the Month (for June 2014): USS Phoenix
Community Award: USS Firewall
Fleet Activity Award: Delta Fleet
Summary Award (for April 2014): Star Trek: Eternity

Excerpt from the Summary:

Discussions are undertaken concerning the approach to the Dyson sphere, versus the ship’s capacity and the risk. LtCdr. Moore arrives on the bridge, her appearance shocking to some. Cdr. Byrne asserts his own presence,a move which prompts speculation, and the potential for ire from his superiors.

Cdr. Byrne’s apparent usurpation of the command chain incites reaction from the captain, and prompts a medical/psych inquiry from the CSEC. Led from the bridge by Cdr. Vreenak, Byrne seizes the opportunity to draw the XO into his plan, with a result beyond surprising. Hope, adjoined to the carrier Rim, goes to warp, leaving LtCdr’s Moore and Hocevar to replenish their dilithium by less than satisfactory means. Lt. Scott mans the TAC, as King Calmest plots within the silence of his mind. In Sickbay, Dr. Reese undergoes a common exam whose nature seems invasive to her heightened sensitivities.

Hope, along with her escorting fleet, journeys toward the Concord System. She drops out of warp to find lifeless planets, and there, at the heart, the Dyson Sphere of the Voth. Barlow, Logan, Vreenak, and Scott all prepare themselves for events yet to come. Ens. Farooqi encounters a Talaxian merchant who piques his curiosity concerning the veracity of the Zahara holomatrix and it’s longterm effects. Cns. James attempts rest in between patients. LtCdr. Moore heads toward her shared quarters, encumbered with worries that likely will interfere with her own need for rest.

A chance encounter in the turbolift sparks both Vreenak and Logan to reappraise one another. On the bridge, Capt. Barlow orders a hail of the Dyson sphere. The cryptic, static laden reply sets their course. Cdr. Vreenak selects his away team. Lt. Scott, having anticipated an away mission order, makes his personnel choices. Cdr. Byrne meets with LtCdr. Hocevar to ascertain her progress, then heads into Sickbay, intent upon putting the next phase of his preparations into action.
