Summary Winner January 2015 – Mass Effect: Paradise Lost

The Asari team digs into the stations computer system, attempting to send a message. “We’ve found more than we expected, we’ll need a bigger ship!” that’s the good news. The encrypted transmission also contains the bad news, “The station is crawling with Cerberus troops” so much for being abandoned. The team manages to bring the internal sensors online to track the Cerberus troops, and discover that there are only about 20 on board… and 6 of them are heading right towards the other half of their team.

Down in the lower levels of the station, the Krogan / Human team had just stumbled into a room full of crates, some of which contained combat mechs. Something that might have helped the previous occupants retain possession of their station, had they been activated. Their search was cut short however as a sniper who’d been hidden in the rafters opened fire. The team dove for cover, and had just started the process of flushing him from his perch when the message came in that 6 more enemy troops we’re headed right for them. That left them very limited time to deal with this new threat. The problem with scoped weapons is that it narrows your field of view, thus leaving the Krogan, Urdnot Chatok a chance to get onto the catwalk. Going into a full charge, the 800 pound Krogan slammed into the Sniper, sending him sprawling down to the floor below, where Patrick was able to easily finish him off. All that was left was to prepare for the incoming enemy team…

Back home, the rest of the team works diligently to bring the new power core online. Working together, they managed to dampen ambient vibrations that the core was causing, discover that the station wouldn’t be able to handle the core at full power, and figured out where to throttle it at, and finally start to power it up. 5%… 10… 15… 20… so far so good.

Fleet Activity Award: Delta Fleet
Summary Award (For August 2014) Starbase 35

Excerpt from the summary:
Starbase 35 is anything but your typical startbase. This is where those that have been deemed to difficult have been sent. In the more recent past, things are not what they seem to be at all on the station. George Williams, the irascible barkeep, has yet another secret. It would seem that he is Commander JoAnne Ross’ father. In some strange way that has yet to become clear, he is there to over see what happens to Ross and Merlin and the rest of the souls on the station. . .

Fleet Activity Award: Delta Fleet
Summary Award (for June 2014): USS Firewall

Excerpt from the Summary:

The screams died out as the crewman died. “What was that?” they wanted to know, but nobody had the answer. It was large, it was hairy, and it had a taste for man flesh. That much was clear, and that was also about all they knew. All the answers seemed to lie in the cargo bay, where the ship had 3 mysterious containers scheduled for delivery to an unknown party. Convinced all the answers they seek are in the cargo bay, the Colonel orders the team down there. Part of him believed he was ordering them to their deaths, but it was where they had to go. The ship on the other hand continued its game of cat and mouse… a game made more difficult by the fact that both ships had stealth tech.

Sim of the Month (for July 2014): Stargate Command
Community Award: Stargate: SG-10
Fleet Activity Award: Delta Fleet
Summary Award (for May 2014): Stargate: SG-10

Excerpt from the Summary:

The team from SG-10, along with a few other SGC teams, were sent to the Alpha site for some training on what would happen if the Alpha Site came under attack. When they arrived, they began setting up, and commenced the simulated attack. However, while the attack was occurring, a real Lucian Alliance attack commenced in the middle of it. This lead to massive casualties, including to Allyson Dutcher. However, Adrian was able to abscond with an Al’Kesh, and put Allyson into the sarcophagus located on the vessel. He also managed to pick up Maddie Chapman, who had been taken prisoner by the Lucian Alliance. However, all of this was for naught, as they were captured by the orbiting H’tak. The rest of the SG teams and the Alpha Site scientists evacuated back to Earth to regroup.

Once back on Earth, the SGC learned of the location of the Lucian Alliance planet, and sent a small scout team through, consisting of Hartman, Ochi, Williams, and a few members from SG-3. They managed to steal a small Tel’tak, and ascended from the planet, heading for the Ha’tak in orbit. Meanwhile, Adrian and Maddie were being questioned, and Adrian managed to break free. Dutcher was left in the sarcophagus, and unbeknownst to the Lucian Alliance, had been fully healed, and went out, searching for the armory, to break out her team mates.

At about the same time Adrian managed to break free, he locked down the Ha’tak, and the room he was in, and began messing with the systems of the large vessel. Maddie was still captured by the Lucian Alliance General, and he sent his people to try to recover Adrian. This was fruitless, and eventually, Maddie managed to free herself, and found Dutcher with a large amount of weapons, who was blasting her way to find the other two.

Hartman and crew managed to land on the vessel, and began a search for the 3 people as well. They systematically went through the vessel, and Ochi rigged the ship to blow. Eventually, Snarf came face to face with the General, and proceeded to shoot him, killing him, thus creating a major setback to the Lucian Alliance. The team made it off the vessel, and it exploded in orbit above the planet.

Sim of the Month (for June 2014): USS Phoenix
Community Award: USS Firewall
Fleet Activity Award: Delta Fleet
Summary Award (for April 2014): Star Trek: Eternity

Excerpt from the Summary:

Discussions are undertaken concerning the approach to the Dyson sphere, versus the ship’s capacity and the risk. LtCdr. Moore arrives on the bridge, her appearance shocking to some. Cdr. Byrne asserts his own presence,a move which prompts speculation, and the potential for ire from his superiors.

Cdr. Byrne’s apparent usurpation of the command chain incites reaction from the captain, and prompts a medical/psych inquiry from the CSEC. Led from the bridge by Cdr. Vreenak, Byrne seizes the opportunity to draw the XO into his plan, with a result beyond surprising. Hope, adjoined to the carrier Rim, goes to warp, leaving LtCdr’s Moore and Hocevar to replenish their dilithium by less than satisfactory means. Lt. Scott mans the TAC, as King Calmest plots within the silence of his mind. In Sickbay, Dr. Reese undergoes a common exam whose nature seems invasive to her heightened sensitivities.

Hope, along with her escorting fleet, journeys toward the Concord System. She drops out of warp to find lifeless planets, and there, at the heart, the Dyson Sphere of the Voth. Barlow, Logan, Vreenak, and Scott all prepare themselves for events yet to come. Ens. Farooqi encounters a Talaxian merchant who piques his curiosity concerning the veracity of the Zahara holomatrix and it’s longterm effects. Cns. James attempts rest in between patients. LtCdr. Moore heads toward her shared quarters, encumbered with worries that likely will interfere with her own need for rest.

A chance encounter in the turbolift sparks both Vreenak and Logan to reappraise one another. On the bridge, Capt. Barlow orders a hail of the Dyson sphere. The cryptic, static laden reply sets their course. Cdr. Vreenak selects his away team. Lt. Scott, having anticipated an away mission order, makes his personnel choices. Cdr. Byrne meets with LtCdr. Hocevar to ascertain her progress, then heads into Sickbay, intent upon putting the next phase of his preparations into action.

Summary Award (for March 2014): Star Trek: Eternity

Excerpt from the Summary:

As Hope nears launch, Ens. Farooqi finds time for a meal in the mess. Cdr. Vreenak and Lt. Ambrose consider the Chronitin bridge, as both make preparations for liftoff. Cdr. Byrne has an uneasy conversation with Dr. Reese, who finds some relief in a medical call from Lt. Halvorsson in the Armory. Lt. Scott arrives on the bridge just before launch, as does Capt. Barlow, who gives the order. Lt. Hocevar ponders a favor to ask of Cdr. Vreenak as she oversees Engineering’s support of the ship. Hope lifts off, smoothly breaking orbit, before docking firmly to the side of the carrier “Rim.” Now, as both ships move as one at impulse speed, the repairs can begin in earnest.

Hope, having safely departed the planet under the hand of Ens. Farooqi, now rests, docked alongside the carrier Rim, leader of the patchwork Hirogen fleet. Engineering matters rise to the forefront with the removal of the damaged strut and footpad for recasting. Once the job is done, Lt. Hocevar meets with Lt’s Scott and Halvorsson to discuss security’s needs. In the void, Gabriel “Matrix” Logan practices sword proficiency as he ponders the cost of his aspirations, versus the destruction in his brother’s wake. Lt. Scott considers his station in life versus those of his parents. With counsel by the unseen King Calmest, he successfully marshals his department. Lt. Ambrose finds irritation with Lt. Hocevar, and engineers in general, as he manages Ops. Cdr. Vreenak maintains his position on the bridge, as his mind puts itself toward the detailed review ahead. Captain Barlow holds the command chair, experiencing tiredness, yet driven by an unrelenting need to reclaim Eternity, one way, or another.
